Who We Are
The Sunrise Optimist Club of Wichita Falls is is a non-profit voluntary organization made up of civic minded men and women banded together for progressive thought and action in community service. Membership is by invitation and is composed of citizens drawn from business, industry, agriculture, and the professions. Members are motivated by the desire to contribute to the community from which they and their families draw daily benefits. There is no greater opportunity for participation in community affairs and service than in an Optimist Club. We take pride in supporting our youth and thus the slogan “Friend of Youth”.
Purposes of The Optimist Club
- To develop optimism as a philosophy of life;
- To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs;
- To inspire respect for law;
- To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people;
- To aid and encourage the development of youth;
We do this in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance our well-being, our community, and the world.
Our club has weekly morning meetings with one night meeting. We frequently have guest speakers from the community and once a month have students join our Young Texan / Tex-Anne program where they compete for college scholarships. We are involved in the community in a number of ways and hope that as you tour our website you’ll see our commitment to the youth of the area.
